We ask that members verify their identity when they join. This is to ensure that the right people are being paid for use of their work.
When you apply to become a member of the Copyright Agency you’ll be prompted to complete our identity verification process.
How does it work?
We use a third-party service to confirm the identity of members. The check can be done online and requires that you provide details of one of the following documents:
- Australian driver’s licence
- Australian passport
- Medicare card
- Centrelink card
- New Zealand passport
- New Zealand driver’s licence
You only need one of these and you don’t have to provide the actual document but submit the reference number (passport number, licence number etc).
Is my information stored?
We don’t store any of the information used for identity verification. The only detail stored in our systems is that you have completed the verification process.
Authority to represent an organisation
We ask a director or authorised delegate of the organisation to give us:
- written authorisation for a nominated contact person to represent the organisation on membership matters
- photographic identification for the director or authorised delegate
Download the Representative Authority Form.
