It may seem a morbid topic for our first 2018 event – but it’s an important one. While the death of a creator is a key milestone in a copyright’s lifecycle, the interaction between copyright law and succession is often less well understood.
A panel of experts will explore the implications of death for the estates of deceased authors and rights holders and the consequences for executors, co-owners, licensees, beneficiaries and orphans, within the framework of copyright law and the laws governing probate, the administration of deceased estates and the regulation of business entities.
The panel will include Barrister Therese Catanzariti BEc, LLB (Hons) (Syd), LLM (Merit) (Lond), Special Counsel with Simpsons Ian McDonald, and Damian Rinaldi, founder and principal of Sonic Lawyers and Sonic Rights Management.
