Copyright Agency partners with the Association of Corporate Counsel

The Copyright Agency has announced a partnership with the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Australia to promote good copyright governance in the Australian legal industry.
In-house lawyers constitute approximately 30% of the total Australian legal profession and as the ‘voice of in-house lawyers’ ACC Australia provides education, information and industry networking opportunities to its members.
The Copyright Agency’s Director of Commercial Licensing, Guy Johnson, says ‘We are delighted to partner with ACC Australia to provide corporate and legal counsels with all the information they need to ensure their organisations are not infringing copyright in text and images. At the same time, as their copyright licence fees are passed on to creators, they are demonstrating best practice in corporate social responsibility.”
The Copyright Agency will work with ACC Australia to deliver a series of copyright webinars and licensing information sessions. Delegates to the 2018 ACC Australia National Conference will have the opportunity to learn more about copyright and its application in the legal profession. A copyright toolkit will also be available to all ACC Australia members.
The Copyright Agency supports businesses in reusing third-party copyright material legally, offering licensing solutions for text and images that are tailored to each organisation’s specific needs. As part of the partnership, ACC Australia members will now be entitled to a 10% discount on new copyright licence annual fees.
Vice President and Managing Director of ACC Asia Pacific, Tanya Khan explained, “Copyright compliance is a key legal requirement, so it is critical that corporate counsels ensure it is being applied appropriately within their organisations.”
