Firefly, R.I.C. and Jacaranda scoop EdPub Awards
October 31, 2016
The Educational Publishing Awards celebrated 23 years of excellence last month in Melbourne. Organised by the Australian Publishers Association, the awards highlight the creativity and innovation of educational authors and publishers. This year, the judges assessed 126 titles in 22 award categories.
Copyright Agency is a longstanding sponsor of the Publisher of the Year Awards which this year went to R.I.C. Publications for Primary Publisher of the Year and Jacaranda for Secondary Publisher of the Year. Firefly Education won four awards on the night for their products English Stars and Think Mentals. The awards were: Overall Award for Excellence in Australian Educational Publishing; Outstanding Primary Digital Resource; Best Primary Student Resource – English (Literacy, Literature, Language), and Best Primary Student Resource – Mathematics (Numeracy).
All three publishers are members of the Copyright Agency.
The life of Professor Mike Horsley, who sadly passed away recently, was also celebrated on the night. Professor Horsley, who started his career as a secondary school teacher in 1974, was the driving force behind the Educational Publishing Awards. He wanted the awards to showcase, as he said, “examples of best practice to which all educational writers and publishers will aspire”. See the full list of winners here.
