Career Fund recipient attends GLINT 2015

When glass and print come together the result is GLINT, an appropriately named residency program for artists established by Megalo Print Studio and Canberra Glassworks. Textile printer Julie Ryder was one of the fortunate artists to be selected for GLINT 2015 and with funding from the Copyright Agency’s Career Fund was able to attend the six-week program in Canberra.
The GLINT residency is designed to bring three print artists together with three glass artists to explore the connections between printmaking and glass practice. Julie took on the residency to learn about the many aspects of working with glass and in turn share her knowledge of printing onto textiles with the other artists.
Speaking of the experience, Julie, who is based in the ACT, said “Prior to the residency I had ideas about how I could use my skills as a designer and printer and translate them through the medium of glass. However, once I started the residency I soon became engrossed in the many types of glass techniques there were available.”
Since completing the program, Julie has gone on to be selected as a finalist in the inaugural Hindmarsh Prize for ACT Glass artists.
The Copyright Agency’s Career Fund supports individuals working in the publishing and visual art sectors to develop specific skills and progress their careers. Grants of up to $5000 are offered to successful applicants.
