Copyright Agency Board Directors update

November 30, 2023

Jason Eades has stepped down from the Board, after serving for six years as a Director. Jason has made a very significant contribution to the Board and to our members and we acknowledge the wealth of knowledge and expertise he brought to the Board, from his long experience in leadership roles in the not-for-profit, government and corporate sectors. We extend our thanks and best wishes to Jason, who will be focussing on his role as the Director of Aboriginal Melbourne for the City of Melbourne.

A new independent Director to replace Jason will be advised in due course.

Earlier this year, Arthur Baker left the Board to take up a senior management position at Copyright Agency, which opened a casual vacancy on the Board. Brendan Bolton was nominated by the Australian Publishers Association and appointed to the Board.

At the 2023 Annual General Meeting, Copyright Agency Chair, Dr Kate Harrison, welcomed Brendan as an ongoing Director on the Board. Brendan has had a long and successful career in the Educational Publishing industry, and a background as a primary school teacher. He has been an author, publisher and is currently International Business Manager at Cengage Australia. A strong advocate of broader industry engagement, Brendan has been a Director of the Australian Publishers Association since 2017.

Kirsty Murray has been renominated by the Australian Society of Authors, and re-appointed to the Board for a further three-year term. Kirsty is a multi-award-winning author of more than 20 books for children and young adults, and a strong advocate for Australian stories, authors and publications. Kirsty’s work is widely studied, and she has taught creative writing in schools, universities and libraries.
