Announcing Innovative Online Projects
April 22, 2020
For our first round of Emergency Action Funding, which closed on Tuesday 14 April, we received 44 applications for Innovative Online Projects. From a very impressive list the following four were selected, each receiving $5,000 for their project:
- Journalist and literary consultant Nicole Abadee for a weekly podcast – Books, Books, Books – featuring interviews with Australian writers about their new books
- Booked Out Speakers Agency for Reaching Out Online, bringing online writers’ and illustrators’ events to Australian schools
- Author and former SWF artistic director Caro Llewellyn for Together – Remotely, a series of regular online forums featuring writers affected by COVID-19 (follow @CaroLlewellyn for the latest updates)
- Journalist Tracey Spicer for Wednesday Night Book Club, a series of interviews with Australian women and marginalised writers conducted by noted reviewers and writers
This funding is part of the $375,000 in additional grants being offered to writers, visual artists and publishers in response to the fundamental challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
While applications for Innovative Online Projects and Virtual Writers’ Festivals are now closed, those for the Grants Program and Visual Arts Projects remain open until 1pm on Thursday 23 April.
Guidelines, timelines and application links are available on our COVID-19 Emergency Action Funding page. For more information, please email our Cultural Fund team.
