Copyright Agency Fellowships worth $240,000 are now available
July 30, 2018
Three $80,000 Fellowships are currently available from the Copyright Agency, including the new Fellowship for Non-Fiction Writing and Fellowship for a Visual Artist. These grants provide important, sustained financial support to authors and visual artists to create a new body of work that will resonate with, and enrich Australian audiences.
“These Fellowships invest in the future of Australian creativity,” says Cultural Fund and Reading Australia Officer, Nicola Evans. “We’re interested to see gifted artists and writers bring light to the issues of the day, cover new ground with their work and to support innovative dialogue in the creative industries.”
With an impressive list of past recipients, including Melissa Lucashenko, whose recently published novel Too Much Lip received Cultural Fund support in 2016, the Copyright Agency Author Fellowship is considered the flagship fellowship for established authors in Australia.
In 2018, the Cultural Fund expand its support to include writers of non-fiction with a new Fellowship for Non-Fiction Writing offering funding for works such as memoirs, biographies, criticism and review or political analysis.
Visual artists creating a major solo exhibition or other significant and ambitious work in any medium are also encouraged to apply for the Fellowship for a Visual Artist.
The Copyright Agency’s Cultural Fund provides some $2m every year for authors, publishers and visual artists to enrich Australia’s cultural life. In July, $675,000 funding was awarded to 21 creative and cultural organisations.
