Copyright Agency members celebrated in The Walkley Awards for Excellence in Journalism

Last month, The Walkley Foundation hosted the 68th Walkley Awards for Excellence in Journalism at the International Convention Centre in Sydney. Dubbed ‘The Walkleys’, the ceremony recognises and rewards the best in the journalism craft. Finalists are selected by eminent journalists and photographers and overall winners judged by the Walkley Judging Board. Find out more here.
The Awards were presented in 30 categories, including two new categories for 2023, and were selected by the Walkley judging Board, chaired by Michael Brissenden.
‘The Walkleys’ celebrate the vital contribution print, digital, visual, and multimedia journalists provide to the industry and the Australian publishing landscape. Among the list of esteemed winners, there were a number of Copyright Agency members awarded at the ceremony, as listed below:
2023 Gold Walkley (Australian journalism’s highest honour)
Awarded to Edmund Tadros and Neil Chenoweth, The Australian Financial Review, for ‘PwC Tax Leaks Scandal’.
Feature Writing Long (Over 4000 words)
Awarded to Anna Verney and Richard Cooke, The Monthly, for ‘Being John Hughes’.
All Media: Explanatory Journalism
Awarded to Rick Morton, The Saturday Paper, for ‘The Robodebt Royal Commission’.
All Media: Scoop of the Year
Awarded to Mark Morri, The Daily Telegraph, for ‘Cooma Taser Scandal’ (authored with non-member Josh Hanrahan).
