Publishers, share your content with our platform FLEX!
September 28, 2021
FLEX is seeking new publishers to support our growing community.
FLEX is a cloud-based library platform that enables educators and librarians to store reading materials and send them easily to students via secure digital links.
Developed by Copyright Agency, FLEX is offered as a complementary service for licensees to enable access to the content they need, all while ensuring copyright compliance in a streamlined process.
Libraries in private higher education and VET colleges around the country are now using our FLEX platform to compile course material for their students, with 75 colleges now deployed, with even more now in trial.
Amy Emanuel, Director of Online Learning at Christian Heritage College, has welcomed FLEX as it provides her with peace of mind, knowing that they are following best practices in copyright compliance:
“We love FLEX as it assists us in avoiding copyright infringement. It is super easy to use and has replaced our tedious manual processes.”
A key feature of FLEX is that it gives us comprehensive usage data from the colleges where FLEX has been deployed or trialled. This data was included in the dataset for the 2020 and 2021 distribution of licence fees from the Individually licenced education institutions, providing Copyright Agency with a more efficient way of collecting information about usage of education content in this sector, in order to make accurate and fair payments to members.
We have also recently introduced a new feature to the platform, ‘Discover’. The ‘Discover’ feature allows the user to explore FLEX‘s expanding collection of up-to-date digital learning materials from a range of leading Australian publishers.
With a few simple clicks, users can browse by Dewey Decimal Classification to find tens of thousands of quality digital original and scanned book extracts and journal articles by discipline. For more information on using FLEX and its features, click here.
To date, we have welcomed 21 publishers to the platform, and students are taking advantage of having high-quality digital content at their fingertips, with access to over 1500 available titles and counting, under the provisions of the Copyright Agency’s Statutory Education Licence. We believe that providing a high-quality reading experience under the licence is key to helping drive adoption of FLEX.
We are interested in speaking to new publishers who would like to share their content on FLEX. For more details or to arrange a discussion, please contact Rosanna Arciuli (Manager, Member Communications & Stakeholder Relations).
