Feedback sought on draft report into review of Code of Conduct
February 16, 2018
The Federal Government’s Department of Communications and the Arts has released the draft report of its review of the Code of Conduct for Copyright Collecting Societies.
The draft report outlines potential options for updating the Code, “to improve confidence in the collective administration of copyright in Australia”.
The Department is now seeking feedback on the proposed findings and recommendations in the draft report, which seek to:
- increase clarity around the role of the Code
- improve transparency around collecting societies’ operations, and
- strengthen governance arrangements for collecting societies and the Code
A copy of the draft report and information about options for providing feedback is available at
www.communications.gov.au/codereviewdraftreport.
Written submissions are due by 14 March 2018.
The Department will also hold consultations with an External Reference Group, of which the Copyright Agency is a member, in early March.
