Some of the projects supported by the Creative Industries’ Career Fund in 2009 include:

Attendance at international festivals
Funding has gone to a number of Australian authors and artists to help cover their travel costs to international festivals, such as the Bologna Book Fair, the Berlin Literature Festival, Japan’s Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennial, and Tokyo’s 6th International Tanka festival.

Attendance at national events
CAL funding has made it possible for a number of creators to travel to events around the country, such as the Romance Writers of Australia national conference in Brisbane, Newcastle’s arts festival This Is Not Art, and speculative fiction conventions – Continuum 5 and Conflux 6.

Training
Funding has also been allocated to creators taking up additional professional training, such as one Australian travel writer and photographer who is training in Dreamweaver software.
